Keep it a game

Free, and still 19+

A stall here borrows the look, the sound and the timing of real gambling, and that is not an accident of style. It is why Volt Stall is meant for adults at or over the legal gambling age, and why nothing here is for anyone under 19. The question is put twice: on the strip at the top, and as a tick box when your account is made.

Lines we do not cross

• No real-money gambling, offered or promoted.
• No prize that is worth anything anywhere but here.
• No coin sales and no purchases inside the site.
• No links out to gambling companies or their affiliates.
• No countdowns, no streaks, nothing built to make leaving feel costly.

Something we would rather say out loud

Nobody loses anything here, so a free machine can afford to feel generous, and the till refills itself when it runs dry. A real-money game does neither. However well a stall treats you, it tells you nothing about how you would fare with your own money on the counter.

Things to watch for in yourself

• The session ran well past where you meant to stop.
• Putting it down leaves you irritable.
• You come here to get out of a mood.
• It is eating into sleep, into work, into time with people.
• You have caught yourself looking for the same game with money in it.

Ways to stay in charge

• Set yourself a time before you start rather than while you are playing.
• Do not switch autoplay on.
• Step away from the counter regularly.
• Clear this site's data and everything resets; to finish for good, block the site in your device settings.
